The PBM Lions Club is affiliated with Lions Clubs International and has been a longtime supporter of our Parade.  Started in1917 by Chicago business leader Melvin Jones, Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organization, with more than 1.3 million members in more than 45,000 clubs acting on Jones’ founding idea: “let’s improve our communities”.

A pivotal moment for the group occurred in 1925 when Helen Keller addressed their convention and challenged the Lions to become “knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness.” Since then, they have worked tirelessly to aid the blind and visually impaired.

PBM Lions has recently expanded their group’s attention to assisting people with macular degeneration.  However PBM Lions, like all Lions groups is best known for their efforts in collecting and recycling usable eyeglasses to children and adults in developing countries. Many who receive the glasses, experience corrected vision for the first time in their life.

All money raised today by the PBM Lions is used to further the clubs community efforts.  We thank PBM Lions for their participation in our Parade, and the work they do in our community.
