All participants should be at the parade starting area (Malvern Fire House) by 1 pm. Decorated bicycle contestants, youth sports teams, Scouts and Indian Guides/ Princesses should gather at the intersection of King Rd. and Ruthland Ave.

Family Fun Day - 2011

Watch for details of Family Fun Day 2012 next spring!

The Parade has been going on for 143 years. This year, in cooperation with other local organizations, we have added a full day of activities and events designed for the entire family. 

As always, the Parade starts at the Malvern Fire House on King Street at 1:30 PM.  The route is east on King to Warren Ave., south on Warren to Monument Ave then west on Monument arriving in Memorial Park about 2:30.

Please feel free to join the parade after the last band (Ted the Fiddler, on the flat bed truck), walk the route and join us in the Park for all the festivities!

Immediately after the Parade the Memorial Service will be held in the Park until about 3:15PM

Before the Parade in Memorial Park

 “Run for Freedom” Race

Kids ¼ Mile Fun Run
8:45 AM for kids 12 and under.  $5 registration (no souvenir tee shirt).  The run will be entirely on the grass inside the horseshoe at the Park.

5K Cross Country “Run For Freedom” Race
9:00 AM The 5K course is a challenging, all-terrain, Cross Country inspired race that is run through wooded trails and grassy areas on and around the Paoli Memorial Grounds.

Proceeds go to the Chester County Hero Fund, http://chestercountyherofund.com/ and their Wounded Warrior Program and specifically Jay Raffetto.

Prizes:  Top male and female, Top Military Personnel and Veteran, 12 and under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over.

10:00AM - 5:00PM  Behler family members will be painting American Flags on kid’s faces.  No charge, but donations for the benefit of the Parade will be accepted.

From Noon in Memorial Park

 

Soldiers’ Angels
Noon - 5:00PM  The Moms’ Club of Malvern  http://www.momsclubofmalvern.org/ will be collecting needed items on behalf of Soldiers’ Angels http://www.soldiersangels.org/  a volunteer-led nonprofit providing aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, veterans and their families.  Specifically the Moms’ Club is working with the Chaplains Support Team (CST) with Soldiers Angels http://soldiersangels.org/chaplain-support-team.html who provide direct support to the military chaplains as they bring non-denominational comfort and assistance to the soldiers they serve.  Care packages contain food, hygiene products, entertainment items and personal letters of appreciation, all wrapped with good wishes of love and support.  The Moms’ Club is asking residents to donate the following items;


  • travel size deodorant
  • toothbrushes
  • travel size shampoo
  • nail clippers
  • Chapstick
  • socks (heavier cotton black or white)
  • beef jerky
  • nuts
  • sunflower seeds
  • ramen noodles
  • DVDs

Items collected will be sent to military chaplains “in country” who will distribute the packages to the troops.  In addition to the supplies, the Moms’ Club is seeking cash donations to cover the cost of postage to the troops (no, the packages are not shipped free by the postal service or federal government!)
